Healer (by Michael Guglielmucci)
Verse:
You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my disease
Pre-Chorus:
I trust in You
I trust in You
Chorus:
I believe You're my Healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe You're my Portion
I believe You're more than enough for me
Jesus You're all I need
Bridge:
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
You hold my world in Your hands
This is a great song written by an imperfect, sinful person - just as we all are. God does heal people, all in His own timing. Mike wrote this song to express faith in God's healing power and face it - though his disease is actually psychological rather than physical, just by coming out in the open about who he really is, he's taken a huge step towards being healed. I just pray that he'll continue to trust God and grow in Him.
I'm not condoning what he did. It's wrong - but which of us has never done a single wrong in his or her life? Some argue the magnitude of it - but then again, the wages of sin is death, regardless of how 'big' or 'small' the sin one has commited. Naturally, some will feel cheated over what he did. But if they struggle to forgive him, does that mean that they place themselves above God, who forgives all sin when one acknowledges Him as Lord and Saviour?
Michael Guglielmucci wrote this incredibly moving, touching and heartfelt song, but the sad truth (unless I am mistaken) is that few churches will sing it after this incident for we, imperfect beings that we are, will always remember the entire saga behind it once it is played. As a musician, I would feel that that is the biggest detrimental effect of this fiasco, 'cause I have enormous respect for the song's simple declaration of faith in God.
It might yet be worth it.
